D.A.K. Motorised Infantry Box Set
This box set includes 3 of the German Keubelwagen, a unit of D.A.K. Infantry, a HMG and a Panzerschreck. The motorised infantry of the Deutsches Afrika korps were designed for speed, flexibility, and coordination with armoured units in desert warfare. Unlike standard foot infantry, these troops were transported in trucks and halftracks such as the Sd. Kfz. 7, allowing them to keep pace with tanks across the wide, open terrain of North Africa.
In combat, motorised infantry would advance quickly, dismount, and secure key ground—such as ridgelines, supply routes, or defensive positions—while supported by artillery and armoured units. Vehicles like the Sd.Kfz. 7 were also used to tow heavy guns, especially anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, making these units highly adaptable in both offensive and defensive roles.
In a tabletop wargame, this type of unit typically functions as a mobile support and objective-control force. They’re not as heavily armoured as tanks, but their speed allows them to redeploy quickly, reinforce weak points, or exploit breakthroughs. When paired with armour, they help hold captured ground and protect vehicles from enemy infantry.
Within a wargaming army, motorised infantry units add balance. They provide flexibility between fast-moving armoured elements and slower, static units like artillery. Including them in an army list allows for more dynamic tactics—flanking, rapid response, and combined-arms coordination—making them a key component in building a versatile and effective force.
